Basil Breen is a singer-songwriter from Dublin, Ireland — emerging onto the Irish music scene with potent songs of love, heartbreak, and optimism.

Equipped with a commanding and powerful singing voice, he has been likened to artists such as Simply Red & PHD.

Last year, he unveiled his inaugural album, "The Creation of Basil" a collection of 13 songs. This much-anticipated release was celebrated with a sold-out launch event at Whelan's, one of Dublin's most iconic music venues.

Basil received the award for "Best Male Solo Act" at the Smithfields Creatives and in 2023 his song Nelson won "Song of The Year" at The International Bar’s Circle Sessions.

He’s had appearances and has been played on radio stations including RTÉ 2XM, South Dublin FM, Tone FM, Near FM, Ocean FM, Shannonside FM, Northern Sound FM & True Radio UK.

He has also played shows at The Sound House, The Bello Bar, Sin E, Darkey Kellys and The Millbank theatre.

He was selected for and has performed at the Sea Sessions Unsigned Sessions in Donegal.

He has also performed at the The Works Festival, The Ballymaloe Garden Festival, the Bradys Sessions, Dublins Finest & The Interesting Sessions.

Basil has finished work on his second album, "The Tower of Basil", with Rob MacLeod from Start-Up CBA

The album is being mastered in Abbey Road studios by Alex Gordan who has worked on tracks from Florence and the Machine, The Cocteau Twins and Sigrid.

He has also worked with Blinding Talent who’ve worked with artists such as Adele, Ed Sheeran & Billie Eilish.

Basil has numerous single releases planned this year, which will culminate in the release of his 2nd album sometime in Autumn.

He is also a software engineer hosts his own podcast, The Basil Breen Boombox, where he talks with other emerging artists, poets, entrepreneurs & creatives.

Basil emits an energy that is fuelled by his love for existence and an understanding of its finite nature.
